Opening systems for parasols

Depending on the size and intended use of the parasol, different opening systems may be suitable. The following overview shows how each system works, as well as its respective advantages and disadvantages.

The integrated button on the opening handle is pressed downward and then released. The parasol then opens automatically. Finally, the handle only needs to be locked into place by pressing it downward again.

The parasol is opened manually by first pulling apart the ribs and then sliding the opening handle upward until it locks into place.

The parasol is opened using a supplied hand crank, which operates a pulley system. An often integrated telescopic function ensures that table clearance is maintained when opening and closing the parasol.

• Requires a hand crank

The ribs of the parasol are gently pulled apart, causing the parasol to open slightly. The opening handle is then simply pushed upward to the desired locking position. The tension of the canopy depends on the locking point and can be adjusted to be tighter or looser.

The additional telescopic function ensures that table clearance is maintained, as the ends of the ribs remain at the same height during opening and closing, so tables do not need to be moved.

The slider is manually pushed upward along the pole and locks into position. The position is then secured using a safety pin.

By pulling a hanging rope, the parasol opens fully. The final position is then secured with a safety pin, and the remaining rope is fastened to a designated holder on the pole.

If present, the safety pin is first removed. In the next step, the parasol is slightly opened by gently pulling apart the ribs until the hanging opening pole can be reached. The pole is then pulled until the parasol is fully open, and the position is secured by hooking the pole into the rib crown.
